 History & Overview of Program

In 1993, the HARBEL Housing Partnership was created as a regional homeownership program. The HARBEL Housing Partnership is affiliated with the HARBEL Community Organization, Inc. HARBEL, Inc. was founded in 1970, as a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) multi-service organization.

The Partnership’s goal is to provide comprehensive homeownership education and counseling that enable  buyers to become long-term homeowners and to promote our communities.

Value of Pre-Purchase Counseling

The one-on-one counseling session is designed to meet the needs of the home buyer.  The buyer’s documentation is reviewed and we discuss the loan application process, their price range and mortgage payment, and what special programs they might be eligible for applying to.

Counseling can also benefit a person, who has credit problems or lack of funds, by providing specific steps to take to  achieve their goal of homeownership.
